What is this site about?

This site records some of the wonderful 19th and 20th Century life stories of our ancestor families. Researched over a decade, these stories help us to better understand ‘where we came from’ and ‘what challenges our families went through’ to get us where we are today in the 21st Century.

These historical narratives cover our immediate and extended family and important others that have come into our lives.

A little bit about us: Rhonnie Phillips and Tony Parsons. We are Australian’s living in Scarborough, Queensland. Both retired and keen travelers, both in Australia and abroad, which incorporates researching family history, where and when ever possible.

When we commenced our family research we were simply trying to draw up a family tree to fill in a few gaps in our knowledge – so we thought. We didn’t realize how we would be drawn in, to do more and more research, as each individual family story unfolded and we were confronted with as many questions as answers. Very quickly realizing that ‘a simple tree’ says nothing about the lives and challenges faced by our ancestors.

These stories, as we discovered them, brought to life the history of Europe and Australia, that we have read about superficially, by putting us in a meaningful context and making us imagine our ancestors in those settings. So, then we felt a need to travel to the actual locations to be embraced by the ‘spirits’ of the past that reside there. And this we are still doing.

So please follow our journey and read some of these wonderful stories. Navigation is simple; Go first to Parsons/Phillips Family Ancestors. There you will find the respective family trees. Next, just ‘click’ on the ‘family name’ of interest. See you there:
