Harriet Sparks was the daughter of Christopher Sparks, a coal dealer, living in Plymouth, Devon. Christopher was born in Devonport, Devon in 1795 but moved to Plymouth after he married. His wife died before 1851. We only are aware of three children and they were Lucy b1817, Harriet b 1825 and George b1829, all born in Plymouth.

Harriet was Rhonnie’s patrilineal great great grandmother. We have no information at this time on their passage to Australia.

On census night in 1851 Christopher and son George were residing at U4 of 50 Clairmont St, Plymouth. Harriet and her husband Joseph or Josiah, a stone mason, were residing at U2 next door, the couple had recently married. The address 50 Clairmont St, we believe, was a ‘rooming house’.

Harriet Sparks story will continue as Harriet Hallett.
